Tang Soo Do Tots (ages 3 - 4 years old)

The kids and parents both enjoy the benefits of having the kids participate in this program.  We all know that most children in this age group are full of energy that is sometimes difficult to harness and keep their attention.  We target our training for this age group to teach them the basics and teach them discipline and listening skills.  While we are teaching them these skills they also start to benefit from the training in other areas such as learning respect for others and how to interact with other kids their age. Many parents of the kids that are taking Tang Soo Do and keep up with their training at the school and work with them at home have seen improvements in their children's behavior for the better.  Don't wait, get your child signed up today!

Tang Soo Do Kids (ages 5 - 9 years old)

Are you ready to give your kids what could possibly be the keys to a successful life?  Getting your child involved in our kids Tang cedar rapids kids karate classSoo Do class will teach them some valuable life skills that can be used outside of martial arts.  The best thing about getting your child involved is that everyone participates and no one has to worry about sitting on the bench just watching the others participate.

It doesn't matter if your child is athletic or not, every child will learn the daily lessons and will progress at their own speed.  While we use a belt system to show the level that your child has attained, children are not pushed to progress any faster then what they are able to achieve.  Our program is meant to challenge your child and to teach them skills to defend themselves as well as skills to use through out life.

As your child progresses through the class they learn self-confidence, self-control and have better self-esteem which leads to improvements in other areas of their life like doing better in school by developing better study habits.  In addition to the parents, your child will now have other positive role models to learn that the choices they make in life will determine how well they will live.  We help encourage all our students to be good citizens and to take pride in every activity that they do.

Tang Soo Do Adults / Juniors ( 10 - 99 years old)

Our adult classes are great for juniors through adults to develop self-defense skills along with other life altering skill sets.  Class are structured to show respect to your instructor and fellow students.  By taking classes students develop leadership skills, learn responsibility, develop self-control, self-esteem, and self-confidence.  The longer a student takes the class the more endurance they build up and they develop more flexibility through stretching exercises.

All students learn the basics from hand or feet strikes, the basic stances, one step sparing ( simulated fighting sequences), forms (choreographed movements simulating a fight), light contact sparring and weapons training in the bong also known as a bo staff.  In addition adult students learn techniques to disarm a person with a knife or other weapons.

Our school does attend area tournaments where our students are able to compete against other area martial artist in forms, weapons forms and sparring.  Students only participate in the tournaments if they want to and we never pressure a student to compete.  If students do decide to compete at tournaments, they are required to have all safety equipment in order to compete and we expect each student and parent that attends to show the best sportsmanship possible.
